Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) today stressed the importance of the U.S.-Mexico relationship during a hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere. Flake highlighted the economic benefits of the U.S.-Mexico trade relationship and NAFTA.
“As a senator from Arizona, I obviously see firsthand the benefits of our relationship with Mexico. On the economic side alone, Arizona exported more than $8 billion worth of goods and services in 2016. Trade with Mexico supports tens of thousands of jobs in Arizona,” said Flake. “NAFTA has enabled a number of U.S. industries to become more competitive on a global scale and for our supply chains to be integrated with Mexico’s.”
