WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) released the following statement regarding the announcement of a new trade agreement between the United States, Canada, and Mexico:

“We applaud the announcement of a new NAFTA, now named the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Free trade with Mexico and Canada is crucial to Arizona’s economy, resulting in $19 billion in bilateral trade last year alone. USMCA will allow Arizona businesses, especially within the vitally important agriculture industry, the freedom they need to continue trade with partners in Mexico and Canada. Additionally, new requirements outlined in the agreement will benefit the automotive industry in Sonora, which produces 1,488 vehicles daily and supports more than 50,000 employees. We support any free trade agreement that leads to increased exports, job creation, higher wages, and lower costs of goods and services.”
