Senate Adopts Flake Legislation to Find Savings from Duplicative Federal Programs
Posted on Apr 23 2015
Washington, D.C. – The Senate yesterday unanimously adopted legislation introduced by U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) that would require the Government Accountability Office to identify duplicative federal programs associated with the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, and to issue to Congress recommendations on how to achieve cost savings from those duplicative programs.
Flake’s legislation was passed as an amendment to S. 179, the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, which was approved by a 99 to 0 vote in the Senate yesterday.
“Taxpayers deserve better than to have their money wasted on duplicative federal programs,” said Flake. “As the Senate gets back to the business of legislating, I’ll continue to take advantage of opportunities to ensure a leaner federal government.”
